DEKRA has awarded the first DEKRA seal for industrial lifting accessories. The first company to be certified, J.D. Theile GmbH & Co. KG (JDT) of Schwerte, is an international manufacturer of chain slings and hoisting chains as well as lifting accessories and attachment points in grades 8, 10 and 12.
The DEKRA seal is based on the applicable technical standards and regulations. The award of the seal is based on a type examination as well as regular quality checks by the material specialists at the DEKRA laboratory in Saarbrücken: dimensional checks, determination of traceability, weather resistance and resistance to stress corrosion cracking, mechanical tests such as tensile tests, bending tests and hardness tests as well as a test to identify the chemical composition of the material.
The new DEKRA seal is geared toward manufacturers and users of steel chains, chain slings, chain components and attachment points for industry and mining. The first certified company, J.D. Theile of Schwerte (JDT), produces conveyor chains and accessories for mining, as well as chain slings for offshore applications.
