For the second year in a row due to the Covid pandemic, “Autonomy” Paris, the international exhibition for sustainable mobility solutions, is taking place as a fully digital edition. DEKRA has been an industry partner to the exhibition since 2019. At this year’s event, the international expert organization is focusing on charging infrastructure for electric vehicles and will be holding a panel discussion with leading experts on May 20.
- Panel event with speakers from AVERE, Qovoltis and innogy
- DEKRA has been an industry partner to “Autonomy” for the past three years
- Second fully digital edition of the exhibition on May 19 and 20
The panel is titled “Challenges and solutions for a successful EV charging infrastructures ecosystem” and is scheduled for Thursday, May 20 from 10:20 am to 11 am. Speakers include Cécile Goubet, Secretary General of AVERE-France, the French national association for electric mobility; Ehsan Emami, Founder and President of EV charging solution provider Qovoltis; Jean-Thierry Schüler, General Manager France at innogy eMobility Solutions; and Vincent Joseph-Gabriel, Head of Strategic Account at DEKRA Industrial France.
Sales of battery EV and PHEV increased significantly in 2020 in Europe and worldwide. Despite this, all carmakers are still racing to meet the ambitious European CO2 emissions targets. Developing the required charging infrastructure in both public and private spaces will be key to support the expansion of e-mobility. A forecast from Transport & Environment predicts that about 3 million charging stations will be required to fulfill the charging requirements in Europe – up from the 200,000 available today. More than 60% of all newly installed chargers are expected in the residential segment and about a quarter at company parking areas.
Against this backdrop, panelists will discuss questions like the following: What are the main challenges and hurdles when it comes to charging station deployment, charging capacities or power management? What is at stake for the industry? What solutions exist on the market?
As an international expert organization, DEKRA is the safety and certification partner for the e-mobility industry. DEKRA experts – with their strong heritage from both the automotive and the electrical world – are able to test the entire charging infrastructure, from electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) to the back office of charge point operators (CPO). Furthermore, tests are provided according to all leading EVSE standards such as CharIN (CCS), CHAdeMO, EV Ready and OCPP (OCA). The latest addition to the service portfolio is ISO 15118, including plug & charge testing capabilities, which confirm the security and interoperability of the payment process. DEKRA is currently the only service provider worldwide to offer this comprehensive scope as a true end-to-end testing solution. DEKRA also offers EV charger installation inspection services to ensure chargers are installed according to specifications and safety regulations. This includes advisory services such as electrical measurements to establish the available power before installation, as well as statutory checks (initial and periodical), and additional services like technical control and asbestos diagnosis.
